"Stomp Out Genocide 2013" is a video collaborative engaging children from around the world. The video becomes their vehicle for self-expression to speak out against the genocides that are happening today throughout much of the world. The storyline of the video involves an African child wandering into a destroyed village and discovering a pair of red sneakers which had belonged to a child victimized by genocide. They become a symbol of all children who have been so tragically lost. He puts on the sneakers and begins stomping on the ground to express his frustration and anger and cry out against genocide. After he completes the stomping, he removes the sneakers and throws them into the air. They are caught by an American child who puts on the sneakers and continues the “stomp.” This scenario continues as the sneakers travel around the world. We filmed in schools throughout the U.S. as well as in Ethiopia, Zambia, Ghana and Rwanda. Ultimately we anticipate thousands of children dancing in a display of solidarity against genocide and of the intentional targeting of children. SEE VIDEO |
